Frequently Asked Questions
What does a doula actually do?
A doula provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother before, during, and shortly after childbirth. We are your advocate, your comfort measurer, and your resource for evidence-based information.
How do you support Black families and address infant mortality?
We focus on culturally sensitive care and advocacy. By ensuring our clients are heard by medical staff and providing intensive postpartum monitoring, we actively work to mitigate the systemic risks that contribute to higher mortality rates in our community.
What types of packages do you offer?
We offer comprehensive support including prenatal planning sessions, full labor and birth attendance, and in-home postpartum recovery care. We tailor our services to meet your specific needs at each stage of the journey.
How does scheduling and availability work?
Once booked, we go 'on call' for you 24/7 starting two weeks before your due date. Prenatal and postpartum visits are scheduled at your convenience in your home or via video call.
Do you accept insurance or Medi-Cal?
Yes, we are proud to accept Medi-Cal. We also offer flexible payment plans for private-pay clients and can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
How early should I book your services?
We recommend reaching out as early as your first or second trimester. This allows us ample time for prenatal education and ensures we have space on our calendar for your birth window.
